Latest Reports Indicate Upcoming HTC “Endeavor C2″ Smartphone Is Possibly The Successor To The One X

Well friends, it looks like we’re about to see another HTC device arrive sometime later this year. While many of you are thinking this will likely be a brand-new device, it’s looking more and more like a refresh of a really good device already on the market. Reports are indicating the new device will be codenamed “Endeavor C2? and will include a faster Tegra 3 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, better battery and urBeats headphones. Additional leaks include the upcoming body of the device being identical to existing HTC devices, which also includes the ability to use current accessories as opposed to launching new accessories. Sound a little familiar to you? Well it should— the original HTC One X smartphone was codenamed “Endeavor”, before its unveiling at MWC earlier in the year. All in all with a fairly similar profile as the original, this upcoming device points to what looks to be a supercharged version of the One X that will be called the One X+ and similar to HTC’s strategy in the past with its Sensation and Sensation XE devices.

The device won’t skimp on software either. Stuff
reports the “Endeavor C2? will utilize HTC’s brand new ClearVoice technology to improve call quality and will also be the first phone to run HTC Watch 2, the latest version of HTC’s video-on-demand offering. Sounds like those two features will compliment the rumored Sense 4.1 and quite possibly, Jelly Bean mighty well upon the device’s release— which should be around the beginning of October in the U.K. if all holds up.
Try to contain your excitement there folks. Try to contain your excitement there.

Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE Rumored to Launch on Sprint on August 19th

Rumor has it that Sprint is planning on launching the Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE next Sunday on the 19th of August. Motorola officially announced the phone about two weeks ago claiming a Sprint launch in the “upcoming weeks.” If you’re not familiar with this device, here’s a quick rundown on its specs:

  • 4.3-inch ColorBoost display (assuming qHD – 960 x 540)
  • 1.5 GHz dual-core processor (assuming the Snapdragon S4)
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8MP rear camera with 1080p video capture
  • Front-facing HD camera
  • micro HDMI with mirroring
  • Sprint ID, offering an innovative way to personalize an Android smartphone with apps, widgets, ringtones and more all, in a single download
  • NFC
  • LTE

Minus the resolution of the device, everything else is top tier when it comes to specs. With physical QWERTY-sliders still popular to many people, I’m sure this device will be welcomed. Does this impending device appeal to any of you guys?

Pictures of the Sony Xperia Mint (Xperia T) Surface

Sony hasn’t really made a huge splash with their phones when compared to the likes of Samsung or HTC, but that may all change with the Xperia Mint, also known as the Xperia T. This beast sports a 1.5GHz dual-core S4 processor, 13 megapixel rear camera, and 720p front facing camera, among other high end specs.

Bulgarian site NixanBal
has published a series of pictures of the T that really shows it off quite well. What we see here is an industrial design that, while not revolutionary or ultra-sleek, is still professional and business-minded.

This looks like a final production unit rather than a prototype, and NixanBal hints that we’re close to an announcement. We presume this to mean we’ll hear something official at IFA in Berlin later this month.

HTC Sense 4.1 Leaked For International HTC One X, Based On Android 4.0.4

When HTC announced the One series of phones last February, Sense 4.0 was being hailed as a huge step toward a lighter, less laggy manufacturer skin that was closer to vanilla Android with some UI improvements. Though Sense 4.0 is significantly better than past versions, it still contains some bottlenecks (home screen, live wallpaper, and app drawer lag) and UI quirks (unsightly menu bar for legacy apps).

Looks like HTC is on the case, however, as the leaked Sense 4.1 RUU shows. Tech site Geeksaber
has gone hands on with this new version and lists the following promising observations:
Live wallpaper lag has been fixed
There’s a dedicated button in the Camera app to switch between Front/Backward facing cameras. (earlier you’d have to go into the menu for that.)A dedicated button to switch tabs in the browser. (You’d have to go into the menu for that, too)Complete removal of all 3D-Effects in the launcher leading to a completely lag-free experience.Probably the most important- Rebased on Android 4.0.4Added ability to remap the recent apps button/ Long-press recent apps/ Long-press Home as Menu. (yes, it removes the Virtual menu bar) under Settings->Display, Gestures and ButtonsNew, blazing fast kernel. We mean it. It scored a pretty impressive 59oo+ in Quadrant benchmark (compared to 5100+ on Sense 4)Wifi-dropping/ Icon showing weak signal Fixes.Better Battery life- 5 Hour+ Screen-on time as compared to a measly 3 Hour+ on Sense 4.
Not sure whether this is the same version currently being pushed to the AT&T One X, but it seems likely.

XDA developer football
already has a ROM based on this version of Sense called HTC One maXimus V2.2, which is available for the international Tegra 3-powered HTC One X. Hopefully, this new Sense will make it to all One series phones soon, including my Evo 4G LTE.

AT&T pushing Android 4.0.4 OTA to HTC One X; rooted users accept with caution

Reports are coming in that AT&T has started pushing out an OTA update for the HTC One X today. The update, build number 2.20 that bumps Android to 4.0.4, has only gone out to a few users and it is unclear when it may roll out to the rest. Neither AT&T nor HTC have issued a change log that details what is included in the update. Users are reporting that it includes security fixes that block some root exploits, a setting to remove the menu button “bar” for some apps, and the ability to long press the multi-tasking button for a pop-up menu.
Users who have rooted their One X or who are thinking about doing so may not want to jump on this update just yet. The fixes for the root exploits have the consequence of also closing methods used to gain root access. Since AT&T and HTC do not offer bootloader unlocking on this version of the One X, the update will effectively block root access until the hackers figure out a new way to do so.
If you get the update, please post and let us know of any other changes that are included.

Sony LT30 Mint to be named Xperia T

Sony LT30 Mint to be named Xperia T

It is so hard for manufacturers to keep secrets these days. It’s amazing when you think about where you can dig up stuff. Take the upcoming Sony LT30 Mint. We know it won’t be called that, and it has to go through various certifications before it can be brought to market. One such certification is for the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) Organization. It so happens that the LT30 just got certified under the name, Sony Xperia T. This certainly isn’t a shocker since Sony adopted the single-letter scheme for 2012.

The Xperia T will sport a 4.6-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4, and a 13MP camera. We should see this bad boy later this month in Berlin so stay tuned.

Verizon’s LG VS930 Renders Leaked: It’s The LG Spectrum 2

The sources over at TechnoBuffalo have leaked renders of the LG VS930, which we already saw pass through the FCC. The source also confirms that this is in fact the LG Spectrum 2, destined for Verizon. So what are the specs we know of?
4.7-inch “True HD IPS” display (1280 x 720)
1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 SoC
1GB of RAM
8MP rear camera
16GB of built-in storage
Global radio support (GSM/UMTS/CDMA/LTE)
NFC (with programmable tags)
Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich
9.2mm thick
Yes, this is a global phone with support for not only Verizon’s CDMA and 4G LTE, but also for GSM and UMTS. That’s a versatile little sucker.
No news for when this will launch. Any jetsetters waiting for this one?

Photo Of Sprint’s Upcoming LG “Cayenne” LS860 QWERTY Slider Leaked

A couple of months ago we covered an upcoming QWERTY slider known as the LG Cayenne (LS860) that is heading to Sprint. Today, a new photo of that device obtained by evleaks has surfaced and shows us 3 physical capacitive buttons and running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The device will contain a dual-core MSM9860 Snapdragon S4 processor, which we all know by now is no slouch. The disappointing part is that the device will sport a WVGA resolution. The least they could have paired it with was qHD, especially since it already has such a powerful processor in the Snapdragon S4.
Either way, I’m sure this device will find its niche of users as physical QWERTY sliders aren’t quite dead yet and still sought after.  No news on pricing or availability, but you can be sure that we’ll fill you in as soon as we learn more.

Could the Galaxy Note II sport a 1.6Ghz quad-core Exynos processor?

What exactly is the Samsung GT-N7100? I’ll tell you what we know. We know that it has a Exynos 4412 processor with Mali 400 graphics, we also know that the screen resolution is 1280 x 720 with a 16:9 aspect ratio and finally we know that the device is currently running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. The reason we know all of this is that a device labelled GT-N7100 has appeared on GLBenchmark listing the aforementioned specifications.
So why do we think the GT-N7100 could be the Galaxy Note II? The first reason is that the GT-N7000 is the original Galaxy Note so following typical Samsung numbering, the GT7100 would suggest the follow up device. Still not convinced? The new aspect ratio points to a screen size greater than 5.5″. Perhaps we’ve taken 2 + 2 and come out with 5 however I believe the GT-N7100 will indeed turn out to be the Galaxy Note II.
Keep tuned in to TalkAndroid as we bring you updates on the Galaxy Note II as they break.

LG Spectrum’s Ice Cream Sandwich Update Ready To Go, Awaiting Verizon’s Approval

A little less than two months ago we reported of an Ice Cream Sandwich build that leaked for the Verizon LG Spectrum. Now it seems as if the official ICS update is just around the corner. According to an LG rep over at LG’s support forum, ICS for the Spectrum is very close:
Keep an eye on our “Company Updates” which shows up on the home page
It’s getting very close…can’t wait to get the official word to post it! I think we’re just waiting on Verizon to set a FOTA schedule.
Needless to say, the wait shouldn’t be that much longer my friends. Any LG Spectrum owners still out there?

Motorola XT907 photo shows up

A new image has shown up on the web purporting to be a Motorola XT907. The device carries Verizon and 4G LTE badging on the back cover. All other details are sketchy at this point. We do know the Motorola XT905 is in the works as well with a qHD screen running at 540×960 resolution. Some sources have reported the XT907 will have very small bezels and run on a Snapdragon S4 processor.

Kansas Market Lights Up With Sprint’s 4G LTE Ahead Of Schedule

Looks like Sprint pulled the curtain back a little early in Kansas City and switched on their 4G LTE service several days ahead of the scheduled July 15th rollout. Users are also reporting LTE signals in surrounding areas, including St. Joseph, Missouri and Manhattan, Kansas. The full rollout will also include Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio in the coming weeks.
I’m hoping the San Francisco Bay Area comes soon. My Evo 4G LTE is feeling a little pokey when on 3G.

DROID RAZR HD numbers on GLBenchmark

Verizon has certainly been busy today with the benchmarking tests being loaded over at GLBenchmarks.  In addition to the HTC device covered earlier, numbers for the DROID RAZR HD have also shown up.
The entry for the device appears to verify the codename “Vanquish” and lists it as running Android 4.0.4 on a Snapdragon S4 chip.  With a resolution of 1196×720, the phone posted a score of 55.0Fps on the Egypt Offscreen 720p test and 93.3Fps on the Pro test. Not eye-popping, but not too shabby either.

Amazon quietly working on a smartphone according to WSJ

The Wall Street Journal has recently stated that anonymous Amazon parts suppliers have come forward with the news of a  smartphone tablet hybrid in the works. The Kindle Fone, as I like to call it, would look to bridge the gaps between smartphone, tablet and e-reader while no doubt offering Amazon’s awesome services right out of the box.

Samsung “Jasper” Smartphone Makes An Appearance At The FCC, Comes Dressed In Verizon’s LTE Bands

It looks like we’re getting closer and closer to seeing the mysterious Samsung “Jasper” smartphone on Verizon’s mobile network a reality. If you recall a few months ago, we told you about how the “Jasper”– aka the SCH-I200– made an appearance at the Bluetooth SIG and subsequently saw some leaked benchmarks for the device.
